Are you worried about having enough money to pay your bills?
Are your creditors telephoning you and asking for payment?
Are your credit card bills increasing each month despite making the minimum payment?
Do you owe more money now than this time last year?
If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then you might want to contact us to talk about your debts.
Remember these debts will not go away: you need help now!
If you contact us we will:-
- make an appointment for you to see one of our advisers.
- ask you to complete, in pencil, an Income and Expenditure form and bring this with you when you come to St Luke’s for your appointment.
Income:
This includes all your income (however irregular) after tax and National Insurance and all welfare benefits and/or maintenance payments.
Expenditure:
The attached form suggests headings for everyday expenditure. Be realistic about what you spend and don’t forget irregular payments like car tax, holidays or birthday presents.

- Make a list of your creditors, how much you owe to each one and provide a reference number (for example a credit card or loan account number).
- Make a separate pile of papers for each creditor
If you feel unable to do this don’t worry we will do this for you.
At your appointment we will:-
- listen to you and your concerns
- talk with you about your situation
- check your income and expenditure form (or complete it for you if you feel unable to do this)
- talk about your debts and explain priority and non-priority debts
- work out a repayment plan if you can afford one
- negotiate with your creditors using your repayment plan or tell your creditors that you do not have any spare money to repay your debts at the present time .
- ask your creditors to stop interest and/or penalties being added to your existing debts
- look at whether there are other benefits to which you are entitled
- allocate a personal adviser
We are willing to help you for as long as you need us. |
